Collect it
in person.

You can buy dried fly agaric in the Vancouver area without waiting on the post. There is no shop to walk into, though, and we would rather say so here than let you find out: no counter and no opening hours. What we have instead is a town and an email address. If you can reach Burnaby, you can collect an order by hand, usually the same day it is paid.

Where we meet

Burnaby, with the exact spot agreed by email after you reserve. It is always somewhere public and easy to describe over a message, usually a mall car park or a coffee shop near a station. We settle it between us, because the right spot depends on which direction you are coming from and what hour suits.

Burnaby is the meeting place for a dull reason rather than a romantic one. It sits in the middle of the region, and both the Expo and Millennium lines run through it, so Metrotown, Brentwood, Lougheed and Production Way are all reachable from most of Metro Vancouver without a car.

What it costs

Nothing. There is no collection fee and no minimum order.

Posting the same order is a flat C$21 by Canada Post tracked parcel, and free from C$150. So on the smallest thing in the shop, collecting is the difference between C$55 and C$76. On a larger order the postage was already free, and what you save is the days instead.

How it works

1. Reserve what you want from the shop and choose Local pickup in Burnaby at the checkout. No card, and nothing is charged on the site.
2. We email your reservation number with the Interac e-Transfer details, exactly as we would for a parcel.
3. The transfer clears. We write back with a time and a place.
4. We meet, and you take the pouch.

Where people travel from

We meet in one place rather than driving a round, so the journey is yours. From Vancouver, New Westminster or the North Shore it is a short hop, and easy enough without a car. Richmond, Coquitlam, Port Moody and Surrey are an ordinary drive that gets longer at rush hour. From Langley or Delta it is a proper trip, and unless you are coming this way anyway a tracked parcel at C$21 is usually easier.

What to bring

Your reservation number, and be ready to show that you are 19 or over. We may ask, and we would rather write it here than surprise you with it in a car park. Everything this shop sells goes to buyers 19 and up, whether it travels by post or by hand.

What this is not

It is not a shop: there is nothing to browse and no stock to look through, and what you collect is the order you reserved. It is not a delivery round either, so we do not bring it to a door in Vancouver or anywhere else. The transfer comes first every time, and there is no paying cash when we meet. What you take away is the same pouch from the same batch, sealed exactly as one that goes in the post.

What changes hands is a botanical specimen for collection and study, not food and not for consumption, and the specimen page sets out what the species is and how it is told apart from the mushrooms it gets confused with. The distinction does real work: offering it as something to eat would put it under food and natural health product rules, with a licence this shop does not hold.

Ordering one

Pick a weight on the dried caps page or the ground powder page, anywhere from 30 to 500 grams, and choose collection at the checkout. If Burnaby is too far, the same order goes tracked to any address in Canada. Either way a person answers at info@shroomsbloom.ca, usually within a day.
