Seven jars out of one batch

Two hundred grams is about 7 small jars. At this volume the mill run is the thing that matters: one batch, one grind, one colour throughout, rather than a pouch assembled from whatever was milled that month.

The first powder size that ships for nothing

About 13% under the 100 g pouch at C$ 1.45 / g. 500 g reaches C$ 1.09 / g, a further 14% down and the lowest gram on this product. By 200 g the gram has come about 76% of the way from the smallest pouch to the largest, and the 24% left over arrives in one move: 200 g to 500 g is the steepest step on the scale at 14%. Nothing flattens out at the top, so if the gram is what you are weighing, the last step is the one that pays.

Powder keeps differently from caps

Ground material meets the air with all of its surface at once, where a whole cap meets it with a skin. That is a difference in keeping rather than in quality, and it grows with the weight: a jar of 200 g opened often is 200 g taking the damp out of the room, all of it, every time. That is 7 jars' worth, and dividing it once costs the powder less air than going back into a single large jar again and again.

One autumn, one mill

The caps were picked by hand at dawn in British Columbia, dried at 40 °C with a brief 90 °C finish, rested three months, then milled in one run. Nothing is blended between harvests, so what you receive is one autumn from one forest.

^* No cap comes out of a forest perfectly clean, and a brush only gets so far. Expect the odd spruce needle, a fragment of dry leaf or a little soil in the pouch. We do not wash them: washing would put back the water the dryer spent 36 hours taking out.
